Cleanup Day 2023 - Leonardo Hotels Central Europe sends a clear signal for a clean planet - Hotel group dedicates entire week to World Cleanup Day

Berlin, 14 September 2023 – Clear the Earth of rubbish for one day: 16 September 2023 is World Cleanup Day. Last year, more than 15 million people in around 190 countries made a statement against the pollution of our planet by participating. This year, Leonardo Hotels Central Europe is taking part in the campaign for the first time. However, instead of limiting its initiative to just one day, the company is extending Cleanup Day to a whole week, thereby giving as many employees as possible the opportunity to do their bit for the environment. The "Cleanup Week" takes place from 10 to 16 September in almost all Leonardo Hotels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy, Romania, Hungary and Spain. Employees participate voluntarily during their working hours and are provided with T-shirts, grabbers and gloves.

"Leonardo Hotels Central Europe is serious about its comprehensive sustainability strategy and the Cleanup Week is an important occasion to show responsibility for our planet," explains Natascha Michaelsen, Project Coordinator Sustainability at Leonardo Hotels Central Europe. "With this campaign, we show once again that our ESG strategy is not just empty rhetoric, but a tangible part of our corporate culture."

Cleanup Week is not a flash in the pan
The keen participation of Leonardo Hotels employees in campaigns such as the Cleanup Week underlines the significance environmental issues hold for the company. Already in 2022, the hotel group has sharpened its sustainability profile in a comprehensive ESG strategy and defined around 160 concrete measures for climate protection, social commitment, and structural change.
