Leonardo Royal Mannheim is set to become the Hotel Mannheimer Hof and part of Leonardo Limited Edition

An extensive redesign, a new brand and a new name. The Leonardo Royal Mannheim is undergoing comprehensive renovation works. From January 2025, it will join the exclusive Leonardo Limited Edition portfolio as the Hotel Mannheimer Hof.

Berlin / Mannheim, 12. September 2024 - Changes are underway at the Leonardo Royal Mannheim. From January 2025, it will become the second Leonardo Limited Edition Hotel in Germany and will operate under the name of Hotel Mannheimer Hof. Complex renovation works which take account of the building’s listed status have been ongoing since July 2024. As part of a complete modernisation programme, the hotel’s 192 rooms and suites and its bathrooms are being tastefully redesigned in elegant shades of gold, blue and nougat-brown. Both the sauna and fitness areas will be enlarged as part of the works in order to offer the ideal opportunity to unwind and exercise. The design of the hotel’s public areas, including the generously proportioned lobby and the inviting foyer, will be reminiscent of the glories of the 1920s. The à la carte restaurant and the stylish bar will also reflect the style of the Roaring Twenties. The hotel’s idyllic inner courtyard, the patio, will receive a makeover in order to provide an inviting place to relax on warm days. One particular feature of the hotel is that its cellar is home to the “Schatzkistl”, a cabaret and varieté theatre which is a true gem of Mannheim’s cultural scene. This means that the Hotel Mannheimer Hof is able to offer an experience that extends beyond a mere overnight stay.

The hotel will also be an optimum venue for business travellers. Its nine light-flooded conference rooms will be given a full renovation including new conferencing equipment. The patio, which is directly accessible, will be available for events too.

The rebranding of the Leonardo Royal Mannheim is enabling the Leonardo Group to establish a link back to the heyday of hotels in the city. The “Palasthotel Mannheimer Hof” set new standards with regard to comfort, style and elegance when it opened in 1929. It was considered to be the best address in town thanks to its central location next to the Water Tower, Mannheim’s most famous landmark.

The avowed aim of Leonardo Hotels is to continue the history of the Hotel Mannheimer Hof. The group is underlining the significance of the hotel’s heritage by including it in the Leonardo Limited Edition portfolio. Leonardo Limited Edition encompasses carefully selected hotels which are able to offer a unique history and an impressive personality. The Hotel Mannheimer Hof is a perfect match in this regard because of its past and the character of its building, which was designed by the architect Fritz Becker in the Bauhaus-related New Objectivity style.

Leonardo Hotels is keen to stress that the Hotel Mannheimer Hof is intended to be both a home for international guests and a “second living room” for the inhabitants of Mannheim. Yoram Biton, Managing Director Leonardo Hotels Central Europe, stated: “We will bring the old sense of glamour back to Mannheim’s city centre. The legendary Hotel Mannheimer Hof, which originally opened as the Palasthotel at the end of the 1920s, will be given a magnificent new look. Historical details will be retained, but the whole building will receive a modern makeover. The aim is for the Hotel Mannheimer Hof’s elegant restaurant, lively bar and atmospheric inner courtyard to make it the pulsating heart of the city once more and a meeting place for guests and local inhabitants.”
